There are probably more of us than you think.
I travel, as a teacher-librarian, from school to school – the “outlying school” circuit – in Teton County, Wyoming, managing and teaching classes in grades K-5 (and one K-6) schools. The schools have as few as 14 students, in total, and as many as 200.
One school is 18 steps from my front door and another is a mountain pass and 1.5 hours away, in the summer, before the snow.
The others are somewhere in between.
I have 12 years of library experience (mostly in rural libraries and library-building), and was certified to teach in Wyoming for this position. I teach between 18-21 classes a week. I have worked in public libraries, school libraries, academic libraries, a law library, and a prison library.
My car is always full of books.
I have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama. I completed my MLS last year.

Wow! I am so impressed with all you are doing. Did you know I am a U of Ala. library school grad too? You have an all consuming job. Thanks for creating this blog and especially posting the photos – it was a great way to visit.

So glad you “met” Joan, Grace! I miss her dearly, but am pleased to see you both come from U of AL — a little southern charm. : )
I hope not to consume too much of your time, but I do hope we can generate, propagate, and consume ideas together. Sounds tasty!

Just a quick shout-out from the other side of Wyoming from someone who just started UA’s MLIS program this semester. Do you have any plans to set up an RSS feed? It’s nice to be able to consolidate the various blogs I read to one place.

Greetings! Dr. McCall shared your blog on the SLIS listserv, and I’m quite glad he did. Looks like difficult work, but I bet it is rewarding. Thank you for sharing your work and knowledge.
